But first, our commander is Rootha, Mastering the Moment. Let's sum this up quickly. She is an orc sorcerer who creates flying red and blue elemental creatures tokens with haste. The one token is only created on your turn at the beginning of combat. There is one catch. You need to cast an instant or sorcery during your first main phase!

The Emperor of Palamecia is a two drop mana dork and its great for early turns. Your commander cares about casting instant and sorceries. The Emperor of Palamecia provides a payoff whenever you cast a noncreature spell by buffing itself and transforming into The Lord Master of Hell - another big creature on the board that deals damage to each opponent when it attacks.

This is the one time you want to cast Blasphemous Act when your commander is not on the battlefield. Still during your first main phase cast your commander and go to combat. Now you will trigger Rootha and create a 9/9 Red Blue Elemental with flying and haste on that same turn. Blasphemous Act is so rewarding when you only pay 1 red mana!

Extra turns will grant you extra opportunities to create the elemental creature tokens. Plea for Power is a 4 CMC sorcery with the voting mechanic. Ultimately, out of the 4 players at the table, they will grant you 3 cards or an extra turn. This puts them into a dilemma of halfway reloading your hand or an extra turn to create more chaos. At minimum you create a 4/4 flying haste elemental creature from Plea for Power. Don't forget to use politics; you could make a deal for an extra turn to swing at the threat of the table!

Plea for Power
Lithoform Engine offers so much versatility. Rootha has a triggered ability and the deck strategy is spellslinger. Lithoform Engine is an artifact that focuses on copying your triggered ability on Rootha or copying the instant or sorcery spells you cast. If you want an extra elemental creature token copy Rootha's ability. Two is always is better than 1. I almost left out the best part. Its ability to copy permanent spells you control. Think about those powerful spellslinger enchantments likeShark Typhoon.

This section is all about spells that take advantage of artifacts ( think treasure tokens) to reduce the cost of spells with a high mana cost. We want large and in charge elementals going to combat from Rootha.

Temporal Trespass is a card screaming "I'm going for the win." An 11 cmc sorcery with 3 blue mana is an intimidating spell. The requirements are tough, in order to create an 11/11 elemental with flying and haste! You'll need 3 blue mana and 8 cards in your graveyard to exile. That is not a problem because you built a spellslinger deck where your graveyard gets filled up quickly. Now take an extra turn with Rootha, Mastering of Moments!

Complete the Circuit is another spell where it discounts its cmc (converted mana cost). Use its convoke ability by tapping a creature to pay for 1 generic mana. I should have mention you could add other token generators in the 99 -Talrand, Sky Summoner or Young Pyromancer- use those creature tokens for convoke.
Complete the Circuit is a 6 drop instant spell granting sorcery spells flash is great. Next it copies the next instant or sorcery spell twice. At its floor with Rootha on the battlefield, you get a 6/6 flying haste elemental and the instant or sorcery spells effect 3 times (itself and two copies).

Ojer Pakpatiq and Cast Through Time are the only two spells that "gives rebound." I referenced this mechanic through my experience building spellslinger decks. There are moments where you have the mana now but want to cast it later. Rebound allows you to cast the spell for free on your next upkeep once you cast it this turn. This mechanic takes advantage of timing skills for players who can sequence their turns very well.

Yes, I'm grouping two cards again but for good reason. Lately, MTG has designed stronger support cards for unpopular tribes like Elementals. But these two cards are perfect for Rootha since she creates elemental creature tokens.
Magma Opus and Ashling's Command give you incredible value!

This is a win condition card. Surge to Victory in its brief overview is a 6 CMC sorcery that buffs all your creatures and can copy an instant or sorcery spell. The elementals created from Rootha are already evasive and the power buff can aid you to swing in for lethal. The fun isn't over; depending on the exiled instant or sorcery you can create game breaking effects.

You didn't think I was going to leave off some of your favorites did you? Again the goal of the list is to help players generate ideas from the Top 10 cards listed.

Older budget cards prove that you don’t need chase cards to make a real impact in Commander. Whether you’re upgrading a favorite deck or looking for fresh ideas to brew around, these cards offer lasting value and versatility that will show up at EDH tables for years to come. Keep an eye on the quiet standouts—you’ll be surprised how often they end up doing the most work.
