Top 10 Commanders Cards from Lorwyn Eclipse

Lorwyn Eclipsed is full of splashy cards, but some of its best Commander options are the quiet standouts. This Top 10 focuses on flexible, non-chase cards that slot into many EDH decks, upgrade existing builds, and spark new ideas for brewers looking to get more out of the set.

#10 • Raiding Schemes

Raiding Schemes is the enchantment version of an unpopular commander -Wort, the Raidmother. What makes Raiding Schemes powerful is the ability to copy spells just by tapping two creatures of the same color as the non creature spell.  Thats fairly easy and can be added into Gruul, Temur, or Naya decks.

#9 • Twilight Diviner

Twilight Diviner is a great utility creature and will be missed once more sets get released.  First, this Elf Cleric manipulates your library and graveyard by surveiling two when it enters the battlefields.  Then she create token copies of creatures who enter or were cast from the graveyard. Here are a two abilities that take advantage of Twilight Diviner - Escape and Unearth.

Twilight Diviner

#8 • Sapling Nursery

Sapling Nursery is a hidden gem for a token generator.  Cast an 8 mana enchantment for less depending on the amount of forests you have in play.  The landfall trigger drops hefty 3/4 Treefolk creature tokens with reach onto play.  Meaning you can block flyers.  Sapling Nursery is going to work well with landfall decks or attacking with land creatures.  I can see synergy withEarthbendingmechanic from the Avatar the Last Airbender set.

#7 • Lasting Tarfire

Lasting Tarfire is a great burn spell and rewards players for using the Blight mechanic.  Whenever you drop a counter on a creature you control at the beginning of each end step, 2 damage goes to each opponent.  Now this can work in +1/+1 counter decks, or any other counters like Finalty counter, Trample Counter, Indestructible counter, or a charge counter on an artifact creature.

#6 • Mornsong Aria

Morning Aria is great dilemma creating spell. It's the enchantment version ofMaralan, of the Mornsong.  The enchantment shutdown card draw and life gain.  However, during each players upkeep that player will tutor any card from their library and lose 3 life.  Why I say it's dilemma creating?  Players are put on a clock of executing their win condition or stopping your win condition.

#5 • Soul Immolation

Soul Immolation is a sorcery board wipe that's similar toPyrohemia. You are only limited by the toughness of a creature you control when you blight X for its additional casting cost.  Now deal X damage to each opponent and each creature.  The most overlooked element about this card is the Blight ability.  You will drop a -1/-1 counter on a creature and I believe this is an opportunity for synergy before the board disappears.

#4 • Spinerock Tyrant

Spinerock Tyrant is unbelievable and going to work well with burn or spellslinger theme decks. The dragon is a 6/6 flyer with the wither ability.  Whenever you cast an instant or sorcery with a single target copy that spell.  If you do, those spells gain wither.  This entire effect is a creative way to deal double damage.  For example,Lightning Boltdoes 3 damage.  If it's copied with Spinerock Tyrant, the copied version gains wither and resolves first.  It will put three -1/-1 counters on a creature.  You can use the original lightning bolt to deal 3 damage to finish off that same creature with toughness 4,5, and 6.  Don't forget wither is a way to eliminate creatures with indestructible.

#3 • Bloodline Bidding

Bloodline Bidding is a great reanimation spell.  It's perfects for tribal creature decks - who's not playing tribal lol?  The convoke ability gives you the opportunity to pay 2 black mana to bring all of those specific creature types back to the battlefield.

Bloodline Bidding

#2 • Chronicle of Victory

Chronicle of Victory is one of the Must Own Cards from Lorwyn Eclipse.  Typal themes are abundant in this set but this takes anthem effects to another level.  Your chosen creature type will get +2/+2, first strike, and trample.  If your deck goes wide with creatures like humans, faeries, elves or goblins, the combat phase is going to be intimidating.  Oh let's not forget the most powerful effect on this artifact.  Card Draw happens every time you cast a creature of the chosen type.  All the creature types mentioned are low cmc.

Chronicle of Victory

#1 • Hexing Squelcher

Hexing Squelcher is amazing.  It's the solution for any deck that runs red.  The goblin squelcher can't be countered and makes your spells the same. It has Ward - Pay 2 life and grants your creatures the same.  Red needed this card because too often it gets shutdown by the weakest of counter spells.  OnlyRed Elemental Blastwas a niche solution.  When you play Hexing Squelcher, it should be the sign of you executing your win condition.

Final Thoughts :

Lorwyn Eclipsed proves that you don’t need chase cards to make a real impact in Commander. Whether you’re upgrading a favorite deck or looking for fresh ideas to brew around, these cards offer lasting value and versatility that will show up at EDH tables for years to come. Keep an eye on the quiet standouts—you’ll be surprised how often they end up doing the most work.
