Manipulating cascade
Make Cascade powerful by controlling upcoming cards in your library. Don't fall for the stereo type it's just another "Simic Commander."

Scry and surveil are great mechanics to manipulate your library. How do they work with cascade?
The cascade mechanic is looking for you to exile a nonland card and cast. Scry and surveil are going to allow you to manipulate which card might be exiled from cascade. What you are going to learn from this article is to build scry and surveil into every spell.

The most daunting task in commander is deciding how you are going to build your deck. Fortunately, Quandrix, the Proof is asking you to concentrate on instant and sorcery spells to cascade. Stop guessing which spells are going to be from cascade.
Scry allows you to put cards on top or bottom of your library. Surveil does the latter, putting cards in your graveyard or on top of your library. These effects gives your deck velocity. It almost makes your library feel alive. Thats something I want to help new players understand. Really I want ya'll to grasp the idea of your controlling your library.
Consider the white space in a well-composed layout—it is not empty, but rather full of potential. It breathes. It allows the eye to rest and the mind to process. In editorial design, these pauses are as carefully orchestrated as the typography itself.
Plotting turns
Scry and surveil will give you vital information. There are plenty of spells that scry. You should try this budget friendly enchantment - Eyes of the Watcher.

Utility spells

This spell digs deep into your library. There are only two other spells that Scry more than 4. I'm a fan of the one blue pip which makes it easy to add in multicolored decks.

This is a banger for cascade. A 6 drop Scry + Burst Draw spell!!! What you need to know is the cascaded spell will resolve first before Interpret the Signs.

Scry 3 is a great amount especially at 2 mana. When they are at these rates, there is always a stipulation. Quandrix, the Proof just allows you to cascade into a smaller spell and then scry 3. You have to love cards like these - utility spells that are setup plays.

Library manipulation

How often will you have 0 cards in hand? This is an emergency card that actually works. It's viable because it has the plot mechanic. I love cards that let you invest early to cast later. When I say cast later, you are able to cast something at the right time!

I love utility spells because they really can enhance your deck. Otherworldly Gaze allows you to see a total of 6 cards for a total of 3 mana in totality. Any instant speed spell with flashback should have priority in the deck building process. Since its a one drop you can cascade into

Players always shy away from spells that offer discounts when you are being attacked! Since our commander wants to cascade you get the 3 mana value for cascade and possibly pay one blue mana to cast. Not only that you get to surveil 2 after bouncing the attacking creature.
Summary
I've given you 7 spells that allow you to Scry or Surveil. As you are deck building, think about instants and sorceries that have scry or surveil. There is nothing worse when playing cascade and you are just gambling! You don't have to gamble when power creep has taken over MTG. You really have seen for 1 blue mana a spell with 3 effects. I like to think of deck building more as a puzzle because there are utility spells that are hidden gems.
