Auntie Ool, Cursewretch leads one of the most oppressive, inevitability-driven strategies in the Blight Curse Precon. This deck doesn’t race—it suffocates, layering aristocrat effects and -1/-1 counters until every turn becomes a problem your opponents can’t escape.
You win by grinding value, punishing interaction, and forcing the table to play on your terms. At its core, Blight Curse is an attrition deck disguised as politics. Blight effects cripple creatures, stall decision-making, and scale brutally as the game drags on, with Auntie Ool rewarding you for doing exactly that.
In this guide, we’ll cover how the deck works, which cards matter most, and how to pilot Auntie Ool at different power levels—whether you’re running the precon as-is or upgrading it for a deadlier grind.

Auntie Ool, Cursewretch

Blight Curse Precon
Players should choose this precon if they want a deck that rewards smart, interactive play without requiring deep rules mastery or expensive upgrades. The Auntie Ool Blight Curse Precon offers a clear game plan built around attrition, aristocrats, and −1/−1 counters, making it easy to learn while still offering meaningful decisions each turn. It also serves as an excellent introduction to Jund’s playstyle—balancing ramp, removal, and sacrifice—while remaining flavorful, resilient, and highly upgradeable as a player’s experience grows.
-1 / -1 Counters
Proliferate
Board Suppression
The deck grinds opponents down by spreading Blight and Curses that shrink boards with −1/−1 counters and tax resources over time. This steady pressure limits creature-based strategies and forces opponents into unfavorable plays, giving Auntie Ool control of the game’s pace.
As creatures die—yours and your opponents’—aristocrat synergies turn those deaths into value through life drain, card advantage, and recursive pressure. These repeated triggers create inevitability, allowing the deck to close games without needing a single explosive finisher.
Spells that put -1/-1 counters on creatures. The Reaper, King No Moreas an example.
Grave Venerations and Blowfly Infestation give you a payoff when creatures die if they have -1/-1 counters on them.
Eventides's Shadow is a great example of creating value from a theme. Remove all any number of counters from permanents in order to draw that many cards.
•Exile Creature Removal : Wrath of God Farewell , Blasphemous Act , Damnation
• Enchantment Removal : Aura Shards, Reclamation Sage, Esper Charm
• Mass Bounce: Cyclonic Rift
• Non-Combat Win Conditions : Revel in Riches , Thassa's Oracle
Auntie Ool, Cursewretch is a great entry point into Jund gameplay, teaching players how to balance ramp, removal, and sacrifice-based value. The aristocrats engine and −1/−1 counter synergies reward smart decisions and timing, making this precon ideal for players ready to level up their Commander skills without jumping into overly complex strategies.
